Is braless about liberation?

With our social diaries cleared and our offices relocated to our living rooms, the choice to go braless is once again about liberation.

In isolation, we haven’t needed to dress for anyone but ourselves. Which begs another question: were we only wearing bras for the benefit of adhering to an outdated social norm?

The rationale behind wearing a bra has gone virtually unchanged in the decades since. Today’s ‘bust supporters’—even Kim Kardashian West’s internet-crashing, shape-enhancing line Skims— are tuned in to providing support and offering pertness just as their earliest predecessors were. But as far as the medical benefits of wearing a bra go, many studies have proved this to be untrue.
